Mookaite operates at the Qi level to strengthen the production of blood and invigorates circulation. It’s been said often that Mookaite encourages self-awareness and honesty with oneself. It’s a supporting stone and grounding in its nature and earthly colours. Use it with kindness, or use it to promote and nurture kindness within yourself, for yourself and others.

Mookaite Jasper stones are usually coloured red, yellow, mustard, white, brown, and they also come in shades of pink and purple, some stones have a mix of all colours, each gua sha is unique so please keep this in mind, if you have a colour you would like then please let us know when you order.

Mookaite Jasper is a type of quartz that comes from a specific area in Australia, a place called Mooka Station located near the Kennedy Ranges in Western Australia. The origin of the stations name comes from the local Mooka Creek an Aboriginal word meaning running water.

Mookaite may help you in changing your belief about growing older, the crystal helps to raise the vibration in your body and your mind with thoughts related to ageing.

By changing your thoughts of getting older, this process may also contribute to slowing ageing in the body, please look at the work by Dr Joe Dispenza about the power of thoughts and energy.

Gua sha on your face needs to be with light pressure with a face oil, you do not need a lot of face oil as it is important to have some grip on the skin. If you have tension and stress in your jaw or at the back of your neck, then it is ok to use a firmer pressure in these areas, but you need to build up, start with a light pressure and then gradually go deeper.

It is important to be sensible with pressure and to not hurt yourself, always feel comfortable, gua sha on your face is a pleasurable experience not painful.

Use a gliding motion against your skin, hold the stone at a 30-degree angle, and use the flat side, do not use the edge (people use a 90-degree angle but you are missing out on all that surface on the stone). Always use an upwards motion and go towards your ear (this is where the lymph nodes are which help to reduce puffiness).

You can keep your tools cool but traditionally the stones are warmed up to increase blood flow and qi. I like to dip my mookaite jasper gua sha in warm water.

The best way to clean your tools is after every use, wipe off your face oil and clean with warm soapy water, dry with a clean tissue or cloth and place back in the pouch.

It is recommended to do facial gua sha daily when you first start, even if it is just for 5 mins a day, after a month then you can do a maintenance ritual 2-3 times a week.

What is Gua Sha?

Gua Sha has risen in popularity rapidly in the last few years, especially in the skincare and wellness industry. Gua Sha (pronounced gwa sa) has been used for centuries as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), much of the history and meaning behind the technique has been lost or overlooked by beauty brands who do not really know the true meaning of gua sha.

Gua sha offers many benefits for skin and health, in TCM, gua sha is commonly used to help relieve muscle aches, pain, fever and other illnesses. The technique has been passed down through generations, with its roots in Eastern wellness methods, how lucky we are to now have these healing modalities in the West.

The most common types of gua sha tools are jade and rose quartz but there are many other stones you can use, the best way is to buy what you are drawn to, that is usually the right crystal for you.
